⚠️ Smart traveler guide at LAX

🗣️ User experience:

Travelers appreciate the wide range of services at LAX (ATMs, Wi‑Fi, nursing rooms, pet relief areas and special assistance), but they also point out areas for improvement such as high fees at currency exchange counters, unstable Wi‑Fi at peak times and delays in processes like lost and found or special assistance when the airport is very crowded.

Strategy: plan with extra time for anything that depends on third parties (currency exchange, recovering lost items, assistance, traveling with pets or wheelchairs) and, whenever possible, bring alternatives: low‑fee cards, your own data or an eSIM, photos of your belongings and key documentation handy.

⏰ Terminal operating hours

Entry to LAX is only permitted to airline passengers and to people who are meeting them, accompanying them or assisting them, as well as airport staff whose job requires their presence. LAX is closed to the general public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

🏦 Banking services

Bank of America operates ATMs located on the departure level of all terminals.

Currency exchange

There are ICE Currency Exchange booths on the departure level (post‑security) of Terminals 2, 4, 6, 7 and B. You will also find them on the arrivals and ticketing levels of the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

At the locations in Terminals 2, 7 and Tom Bradley, you can obtain cash advances (up to USD 300.00) with Visa and Mastercard credit cards.

What users say:
ATMs are conveniently located throughout the terminals and are a practical option for getting quick cash, although many travelers mention high fees for international transactions. ICE currency exchange counters are seen as useful only in an emergency, since recent reviews on currency services and airport branches point out that their exchange rates are not very competitive compared with banks or low‑fee cards in the rest of the city.

📱 SIM cards

All ICE Currency Exchange booths sell international and domestic SIM cards. In addition, some convenience stores and newsstands offer SIM cards suited for travelers visiting the United States. You can find these cards at Hudson, Los Angeles Magazine News, Market 8600, Sunset News and CNN Newsstand.

What users say:
More and more travelers are choosing eSIM solutions instead of traditional physical SIMs sold at the airport, since they allow you to activate high‑speed data and, in some cases, call minutes without paying roaming charges or removing your home SIM. If you are traveling to the USA, you can get high‑speed international data with a 5% discount using the coupon code MUNDO. See other destinations

📮 Postal services

There are no postal services available in any of the LAX terminals. Travelers should mail their correspondence before arriving at the airport. The nearest post office is located at 8821 Aviation Blvd. Usual opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. More information at Tel +1 800 275 8777.

📶 Free Wi‑Fi

Free Wi‑Fi is available in the public areas of all terminals. The service offers unlimited 45‑minute sessions of free access. You will see a short ad or video (15 to 30 seconds) before you can browse. Select the network “_LAX Free WiFi”, open your browser and choose the “Free Unlimited Wi‑Fi” option.

What users say:
Recent reviews and airport Wi‑Fi guides describe LAX Wi‑Fi as adequate for messaging, email and basic browsing, but with very variable speed and stability depending on the terminal and time of day. For remote work or sensitive connections, many travelers recommend using their own data or an eSIM and, when possible, a VPN for extra security.

🧭 Traveler services

Information on hotel reservations and car rentals is available in all terminals, inside or next to the baggage claim area, on the lower/arrivals level.

🧳 Lost and found

If your checked baggage is lost or damaged, or if you forget a personal item on the plane, contact your airline or go to the check‑in area.

For belongings lost within airport facilities, the best place to start is to identify when and where you last saw your item. Check the restaurants and shops, or car rental agencies. If you lost your passport, you must contact U.S. Customs at Tel +1 310 665 4560.

The LAX Lost and Found office, operated by the Airport Police Division, receives items found throughout the airport from Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. Items lost at TSA checkpoints are turned over to Airport Police approximately 5 to 10 business days after the date of loss. Visit THIS PAGE to submit an inquiry.

What users say:
According to recent comments and airport guides, many travelers find the LAX Lost and Found system reasonably organized and appreciate having a dedicated form on the official website. However, several reviews warn that the recovery process can be slow, so it is important to provide very detailed descriptions (brand, color, approximate location) and follow up on your claim periodically.

👶 Nursing rooms

- Terminals 7/8: Next to “Ashland Hill”
- Terminal B: In front of “Vanilla Bake Shop” near Gate 150 / in front of Gate 221 / next to “LA Confidential”

What users say:
Based on amenities guides and comments from parents, LAX nursing rooms are generally well rated for cleanliness, comfortable seating and power outlets, making them very practical for families traveling with babies. Some mothers mention that during busy periods they can feel a bit limited in capacity, so they suggest arriving a few minutes early if you plan to use them before boarding.

⛑️ Medical and first aid services

Emergencies: Tel +1 424 646 7911

The first aid station is located on the upper/departures level of Terminal B and operates Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. If you do not find staff at the clinic, you can use the two telephones located outside the station to request medical assistance.

Automated external defibrillators
There are defibrillators available to assist passengers suffering cardiac arrest, strategically located at security checkpoints and on bicycle patrol units.

In more serious situations, paramedic ambulance assistance can be requested by contacting any airline employee or Airport Police at Tel +1 310 646 7911.

What users say:
According to recent traveler reports and airport information, LAX medical services are recognized for having trained staff and defibrillators in key areas, which many passengers see as an extra safety factor. Reviews mention that response is usually quick in urgent cases, although for less critical issues there may be wait times if the airport is very busy.

🐾 Traveling with animals

It is important to check with your airline regarding the rules and procedures for traveling safely with pets. All information about pet carriers, limits on the number and types of animals allowed in the cabin and pet pick‑up in baggage claim areas must be provided by your airline.

In addition, there are indoor and outdoor pet relief areas at the following locations:
- Terminal 1: Next to Gate 13 / At the west end of the lower level
- Terminal 2: Next to Gate 21A
- Terminal 4: On the bridge to the Tom Bradley International Terminal
- Terminal 5: Next to Gate 50B
- Terminal 6: Outdoor atrium, next to the restrooms adjacent to Gate 62
- Terminal 7: Next to Gate 71A
- Terminal B: Next to the entrance to the bridge to Terminal 4 / Next to Gate 205

What users say:
According to pet travel guides and recent comments, designated pet relief areas at LAX are generally well rated for cleanliness and available water points, which makes traveling with dogs easier. Some travelers note that during very busy times these areas can feel small, so they recommend using them calmly whenever you have a break between flights.

♿ Wheelchairs

To request wheelchair service, it is recommended that you contact your airline at least 72 hours in advance. The service is provided free of charge by the airlines.

Note that airlines do not provide this service from parking areas to the terminals. Most people who request wheelchair assistance are transported from the ticket counter to the aircraft. Airlines are required to provide curbside assistance when requested.

What users say:
Airport reviews frequently praise wheelchair assistance at LAX for the friendliness of the staff and the help they provide when moving between counters, security checkpoints and departure gates. However, many travelers recommend requesting the service as early as possible and arriving at the airport in good time, since during peak periods there can be delays until an attendant is available.
